Following the instruction of the Lord on Community Building and being responsible for host communities, this is the first teaching on how to adopt a city.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Ephesians 6:12 KJV
We are contending for atmospheres.
There are Spirits that control territories. We are gatekeepers and priests.
What does it mean to Adopt a City?
1. To carry the burdens of God for the city.
You are an intercessor for the city, Asking for God's heart for the people in that city/nation.
You are a forerunner. You are going into the air, contending for The Faith in that city and having Foresight because you are in the air—spiritual intelligence.
2. To have a responsibility for you to push and align with the purposes of God in that city.
There's a new dimension you are bringing into the city, so you have to be a resilient force.
You are a witness of the dimensions, the power and the possibilities of God. God gives you a heart for the city and then anoints you to lead a charge for people to be drawn to God.
It's you being a witness of the power and anointing of God for a people. Steward it rightly! Pray through the burden God gives you. Travail!
Things that help in the process of adopting a city
1. A longing for consecration in prayer, fasting and the Word.
You have to be sensitive.
God will give you a portion of the land when you are responsible.
When you say things that are not popular in the territory, understand that you are bringing a new dimension of God to that territory.
2. Faith. You cannot entertain fear. Fear would compromise the security you have found in your communion with God.
Jesus has prevailed; you are only pushing for the victory to be seen in that territory. Follow God as He leads you.
You need to know the victory Christ has won on your behalf.
When you get to the location, be focused and mission-driven.
Do not be distracted by fear. You have the blueprints in the scriptures.
We become living sacrifices when we stand for Christ in a territory. To live is Christ and to die is gain. - Phillipians 1:2
Other things to note:
Understand that it is a mandate, and we cannot fail God. Understand the responsibility of a burden.
Put a step forward every time God gives you instructions.
God is looking for oracles, people that can declare the works of God. It will never be about the anointing and power. The burden can come in different ways: a call to education, ministry, agriculture, etc.
We fight with the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God.
Ephesians 6:16 KJV
above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Always remember that you are called by God. God knows you and sees you.
Ask God for the nations
Psalm 2:8 KJV
Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, And the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
Be fully aware of what you are asking for and the responsibilities that come with the answers.
May you know the power handed to us as believers, and may your heart be flooded with light. May the Holy Spirit give us wisdom, insight, and understanding. Amen.
